HP Pavilion dv6-6c10us
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6c10us Entertainment Notebook and I want to upgrade the Ram. From what I have read it has two slots. with 2 GB in one and 4 GB in the other. It is suppossedly capable of a max of 16 GB. Can I replace the 2 GB board with an 8 GB one that will give me a total Ram of 12 GB?

HI.

That ram is the right speed for your computer so it should work along side your 4gb one. Now-a-days you can mix different size rams. However ram is finicky. I have seen some weird things.

Just in case make sure you can return it in a worst case situation

Regards.

Sorry, I am new at this. One more quick question.

So all I need to shop for is one stick of 8 GB DDR3/1333-MHz Ram and it should be compatible? Anything else I need to be aware of?

HP Recommended

Hi,

As mentioned on the previous post your unit can support upto 16GB of RAM

Either you can use 8GB x 2 = 16 GB

Or Single 8GB module

or 4GB x2= 8GB

Its completely upto your privilege to add the way you wanted !!

Yes, my question has been resolved for the most part.

I just want to be sure I purchase the correct Ram stick. So all I need to shop for is one stick of 8 GB DDR3/1333-MHz Ram and it should be compatible? Anything else I need to be aware of such as number of pins etc?
