Hi,
Yor machine currently has 4GB of RAM in 1 slot amd it is a machine with Intel® Core™ i3-6100U with Intel® HD Graphics 520 (2.3 GHz, 3 MB cache, 2 cores)
http://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c05165060
therefore it has
Two non-customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots (Intel Core processors)
DDR4-2133 dual channel support (DDR4-2400 bridge to DDR4-2133)
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following configurations:
● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)
● 4096-MB total system memory (4096×1) or (2048×2) <---- your machine has 4096x1
4GB is too thin, you need more than that to support
Intel® HD Graphics 520 |
You need help from an Authorized Service Provider parts if you wish to keep 1 year warranty.
Regards.

(DDR4-2400 bridge to DDR4-2133)
Supports up to 16 GB of system RAM in the following conƭgurations
● 16384-MB total system memory (8192×2)
● 12288-MB total system memory (8192×1) + (4096×1)
● 8192-MB total system memory (8192×1) or (4096×2)
● 6144-MB total system memory (4096×1) + (2048×1)

Hi,
There are many i3 and many i5 processors. To compare CPU's we normally look at three things called CCC or Cache, Clock and Core. You need to compare a CPU with another CPU, you can't compare just i3 and i5.
