Hp Pavillion g6
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

Hi,

Ive had my laptop (hp pavillion g6) for almost 5 years now and have never had a major issue. Recently, when using my laptop (just for tasks such as browsing the web and word processing) the fan whirs for a few seconds then stops for a few seconds, then whirs then stops constantly. It is becoming quite irritating!

This happens both unplugged and plugged in and in various locations.

I wondered if anyone had any ideas on why this may be and a way to either prevent it or see if the fan is broken?

Thanks!

Hi @ljw2000,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!

I read about your HP Notebook and issues with the fan always running. I would try to reload the factory installed BIOS Setup settings. This will reset the fan settings and nothing else on your Notebook.

Please let me know how this goes.
