I use an HP ENVY M6 notebook running Windows 8.1, 64 bit. I was seeing a lot of unwanted popups telling me I needed Java or other add ons which I don't. The computer is less than a month old. I went to that day's downloads and deleted everything I found from that day. Since then, I have no sound. I probably deleted something but I thought I was pretty careful. Can I download a sound card? Do something else? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Patty,
The first thing I'd suggest is to download and reinstall the IDT HD Audio driver from the following link.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63421.exe
When the installatin has completed, restart the notebook.
Best regards,
DP-K
