Okay, so finally got sound, but now no plug-in microphone anymore!!

Got sound thus.

I removed both sound devices listed in Device Manager.

Restarted.

Let windows install generic Hi-Def sound driver,

sound returned.

Found file containing driver that HP Update downloaded for my sound-card - that messed it up.

Deleted it.

Found HP Support assistant in Windows Update.

Uninstalled it.

Trust for the manufacturer of my machine to know what they're doing.

Removed it.

The first part would probably supice to get your sound back, but as far as I'm concerned HP support assistant is a trojan - it lets HP update sofware download files that kill functionality of machine. Definition of a trojan!

That was an hour of my life I won't get back and one hopes that the down on my knees apologies I will be delivering tomorrow will not affect my chance of receiving another interview chance.

My lessenfrom this: Don't trust HP automated support systems/software as it genuinely can't be trusted, Given the evidence I've jus wrtten about in these posts.

When I upgraded to Microsoft 10, my sound disappeared. How can I get it back?
