Pavilion g7-2017us
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I tried to download and install a new version of BIOS (F.26, June 2014) after having some issues with the laptop getting hot and some programs freezing. The download details indicated that it was highly recommended.

I tried this today and the system showed that it was already installed. I looked at C drive and it shows it under SWSetup\sp66805\0183AF26 bin. I have no idea what this means. It shows a date of 6/17/16 as installed. I have been looking into this for a while but I know that I did not install it.

I do not understand why the system information still shows: BIOS version Insyde F.25, 5/29/2013 if it is supposed to have been updated.

Please help!

Thank you,

AG

Hi @Anne47

Thank you for joining the HP Forums!

I understand that your Bios has updated but still showing the old version, with your HP Pavilion g7-2017us Notebook. I am happy to help!

This is very odd, as the only updates I see available on the Software and Driver Downloads page are dated for Mar 1, 2016.

For now, I would recommend going through the steps in this guide, Updating the BIOS, and let me know what happens!

RnMusicMan!

Thank you for your suggestion. I actually had another thread with this issue as well as one relating to the laptop being too hot. I received assistance through that post and was able to download the latest Bios. Although it shows 2016, when you click the details it is the one for June 2014.

Thanks again,

Ana
