Hello, I´ve downgraded my notebook from W10 to W7 recently. And I have little problem. Everytime I wake up my notebook from sleeping mode, blue screen of death occurs. Do you thing it could be because of old BIOS version? Because after downgrade, I have installed every possilble driver I have found, exept BIOS actualisation.
When blue screen of death occurs, it reports STOP: 0x0000007E
So can you please advise me, which BIOS upgrade is compatible with Windows 7 and with my notebook so I can install it?
Or do you have any other ideas, why BSOD occurs every time after sleeping mode?
Thank you.
P.S. I´ve attached a BSOD failure report, hope it will help. Sorry, part of it is in czech but I believe you will understand the main message 🙂

Hi @Molokai,
Thank you for your response. I see that you have decided to reinstall Windows 10. You can download the Windows 10 Media Creation tool and reinstall Windows 10. I would try a clean install:

Hi @Molokai,
Thank you for your query. I am happy to try and help.
I grasp that you downgraded your notebook to Windows 7 and now whenever you wake your notebook from sleep mode you get a blue screen of death and it reports STOP: 0x0000007E error. Here is a link to HP PCs - Troubleshooting sleep and hibernate issues (Windows 7). While researching the error message I located this document that may also help. Operating system intermittently crashes with a "0x0000007E" Stop error message on a computer that is... (from support.microsoft.com). Please let me know the results.

Hello, @Sparkles1
I´ve already tried the microsoft link and it says to me that "Actualisation is not usable for your computer" and on the HP-troubleshooting sleep website i have not found anything useful... 😞

Hi @Molokai,
Thank you for the update, I am not sure if this will help or not. The usable memory may be less than the installed memory on Windows 7-based computers. Windows 7 has not been tested on this model and the outcome is unknown. It may or may not work correctly. As you installed a retail copy of Windows 7, you can contact Microsoft for assistance.

Hi @Molokai,
Thank you for your reply. Here is a link to the HP Pavilion Gaming Notebook - 15-ak001nc Software and Drivers. If you click on BIOS you will find the latest version for your notebook. You can also click on previous versions to display a list. As I stated Windows 7 has not been tested and therefore that is the only option I can provide you. Hope it helps.

Thanks again for your help.
In BIOS previous versions I found version F.77 Rev.A and there is written: "- Provides support for additional systems running Windows 7." Is there any chance that it means that this BIOS version is compatible with W7? 🙂
P.S: Few weeks ago, when I asked for drivers which are compatible with W7, your colleague advise me that I can use driver for HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae108nm, except BIOS upgrade. Is there any chance, that you could recomend me BIOS upgrade which is determined for another laptop but would work on mine too?
Thanks a lot again.

Hi @Molokai,
Thank you for the update. As the description specifically lists W7, then it is compatible. I can only suggest the BIOS versions that are listed as the recommended one. Please let me know the outcome.

Hi, there is not any BIOS version which is listed as recomended so I'am afraid to try to install BIOS version which is listed only for W10.
If I will try it and there will be some kind of problem because of compability, is there any way how to return upgrading BIOS?

Hi @Molokai,
The BIOS versions that are in the list on the software and driver page have all been tested on your model of notebook and are the recommended one. Should you decide to install one and you have an issue, you can always restore or recover the previous version. HP Notebook PCs - Restoring the BIOS. Please keep me updated.
