When a user chooses Shutdown from the Windows 10 menu, HP Probook 440 G3 is going into sleep mode rather than shutdown. This has been verified in multiple ways including review of system event logs and the command
systeminfo | find "Boot"
This is a problem because business critical apps (Mitel Micollab to name one) require a shutdown every few days or they behave erratically.
The laptops are already configured to sleep when the lid is closed and the system is on battery. So users do not need another way to make the system sleep.
Problem occurs on multiple versions of Windows 10 x64, most recently Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.420)
All windows updates and available patches including those from HP Support Assistant have been applied.
shutdown -s from command line is not an option - users are very busy attorneys and paralegals not computer experts.
The power button's have been programmed to shutdown the machine but users were trained based on previous machines to always use the Windows shutdown and not the power button.
The users use some legacy machines that should be shutdown from windows and not the power button. Telling users to use the power button would be a training issue.
Our users are experts in issues of Criminal and Civil law and should not be forced to learn the intricacies of Windows to do their jobs.
HP - please provide a fix so users can shutdown from windows as they have been trained from windows shutdown.

During HP support chat, the rep stated "hp support assistant is a phased out software"
This is odd because it was included on brand new laptops purchased in last few months.
HP recommended HP SoftPaq Download Manager
