DV6-6190
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello guys! This is unnacceptable! I can't install successfully any driver. I'm trying loads of versions from 8 to 17 from the HP site as well from amd site and nothing is working (been using DDU to clean files from previous installs...). The problem is that or it says that the drivers are not supported by my setup (and i'm downloading specific drivers for W7 64-bits everytime, no mistakes!) or that the driver package not ok, anything... I need an urgent response with a direct link of the last stable drivers... Tired of searching around the internet

HP DV6-6190

AMD HD6770M

Windows 7 64-bits

Thanks in advance

Hi:

If your notebook has an Intel processor, this is the only graphics driver you can and should install.

You cannot use any drivers from AMD or Intel separately.

It installs the drivers for both the AMD and Intel GPU's.

This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver.

Since you have tried many drivers unsuccessfully, you may have corrupted the windows registry.

So, if this driver doesn't work, you will have to reinstall Windows 7.

If after reinstalling W7, the graphics driver still doesn't work, while I am not a PC repair tech by trade or training, you can pretty much bet the AMD GPU has overheated and died on you.

Thank you for the quick response man!! I appreciate it!

Well, the installation went ok but now i can't seem to get to change any settings on CCC... And there is no way to go to the alternate graphics panel (desktop -> right click -> nothing there but ccc)Sem Título.png

@jmtexxx

Installing AMD drivers over other AMD drivers often leads to problems -- as AMD says you need to UNINSTALL the old drivers before installing new ones.

Since you're having problems after install the correct AMD drivers, I recommend you download and run this utility:  http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx

After that, reboot and then reinstall the HP drivers.

Good Luck

I'm planning on updating to Windows 10 Pro 64-bits. Should i stay with this driver pack?

Hi:

I'm not sure your notebook will run correctly on W10 because of those switchable graphics.

They normally require a custom driver for each operating system installed (one for W7, one for W8, one for W8.1, and one for W10).

So, while it may show that the drivers are installed, you may have issues, such as not being able to adjust the screen brightness, etc.
