Spectre x360 13-AC023DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just purchased a brand new Spectre x360 13-AC023DX.  I have 2 external monitors.  Each of the monitors are connected to the Spectre via the 2 USB-C connections, with a USB-C-to-HDMI connections.  I keep the laptop lid CLOSED at all times. The two external montors display fine, no issue there.

Here are the two issues:

1. I can not wake the computer from sleep without opening the lid.  Clicking on my mouse or keyboard does nothing to wake it.  I have to open the laptop lid (almost all the way) then it will wake and the 2 external monitors will react.  I can't even wake it by pressing the power button on the laptop.

2.  When I reboot the laptop (again, keeping the lid closed the whole time), it starts up showing 3 displays attached to it.  The 3rd one represents the laptop screen itself.  The 3rd screen should not show up in display settings when the laptop is closed.  The only way to get the 3rd screen to disappear is to, again, open the laptop, then re-close it.  Once you do that, WIndows display settings will properly show only the 2 external monitors.

I've upgraded the video drivers to the latest.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hello, @nola111 - Hope you are well 🙂

Welcome to the HP Forum! This is a wonderful location to converse with the community, get assistance and find tips!

I see that you are having display related issues on your HP Spectre. Good job on properly diagnosing and troubleshooting the issue 🙂 I’ll try and help you from here!

I would suggest performing a BIOS default and update the BIOS as the first step. To perform a BIOS default, follow the steps below:

1) Shutdown the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F10 once for BIOS.

4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.

5) Press F10 to save and exit.

If the issue persists, try updating the BIOS of your notebook. Go to http://hp.care/2mc2HOZ to download and update the BIOS. Also, update the chipset drivers. Restart the PC once done and check.

To make sure the keyboard is waking up the PC, you need to change the power management settings from the device manager. Go to http://hp.care/2lrE14H and follow the steps under "The computer does not wake up from sleep or hibernate mode".

Let me know if that helps!

Cheers 🙂

Hi Dvortex, and thanks for your reply.  With your help, I've resolved #1.  Thank you for this.  However, #2 still is not resolved.  But for purposes of keeping things properly organized, I'm going to close this thread and mark as solved, and start a new separate thread for #2, so it's one issue per thread.  Thanks.
