Hey, I feel like I have tried every combination of settings I can try and my HP Envy notebook continues to go to sleep after 2 minutes time (Roughly, 8:00 - 8:02) it's aggravating, I have to put on an mp3 and hit mute just to keep the computer from going to sleep.
I think other people have dealt with this and if you know where the working solution is: please post a link. It becomes a search game trying to find credible answers with this, and so far I haven't found the right one.
My computer is plugged in when it happens and the charge works fine.
I just tried Settings/Screen Timeout Settings/ (aka "Power and Sleep") and changed every thing to "4 hours" when plugged in and on battery power / for screen and sleep settings.
I have tried turning on the screensaver function, which works sometimes, and other times not at all. I love the computer but hate this.
The other area is:
Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Power Options
I just looked, and in "Change When the Computer Sleeps" (which is the same as "Choose when to turn off the display") the shortest setting is at 25 minutes, but like I said it shuts off after 2 minutes.
If I click on "Advanced Settings" under sleep it's set at 300 min. and everything else looks like it wouldn't be allowing the 2 min shutoff.
The side link for "Create a power plan" I'm currently on "HP Recommended (recommended)" I think I've tried every combination here too.
Any help would be greatly apprecieated, thank you!

"Disabling hybrid sleep in Windows" on https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c03383935
FIXED IT.
Thank you very much! I tried ripping a CD earlier today and it shut off as it was ripping.
I just burned a CD after doing the fix and it didn't go to sleep on me!
Thanks again!

I spoke too soon, it's right back to doing it again. I checked the setting I changed and it was still the way I had changed it to (when I thought it was fixed). Very tired of this happening, I'll check that linked page you gave me again, I appreciate the help - another issue I have is I can't figure out how to disable the mouse/touch pad. My palms slightly touch it while I'm typing and it shoots the curser somewhere else on the page - manytimes erasing words or typing in the middle of a word somwhere. I'll shut up now, haha
I just downloaded the freeware program "Caffeine" and so far that works lol... I try to tackle the touchpad problem now...

I fixed the mousepad issue:
- Click WINDOWS+R Keys at the same time. ...
- Type main.cpl and press enter.
- The mouse menu will come up.
- Click on the ClickPad Settings tab.
- Place a check in Disable internal pointing device when external USB pointing device is attached.
- Click OK.
just FYI, if anyone else has this problem, the above 6 steps work! 😉

Try this: I think it has worked for me
"Another possible option that's worth checking is from the Start Menu, select Settings, then Personalisation and then Lock Screen. Near the bottom of this window, select Screen saver settings. Make sure that the dropdown menu under the Screen saver heading is set to None ( if it already is, select another option, Apply it and then select None again ). Click Apply and Ok to save any changes."
Was offered by an expert in this forum (certainly not me!!!)

I'm having the same problem and I've tried every step in your recommended fix, but nothing works. In fact, most of the settings you recommend are the settings that are already selected in my system.
Yesterday, it even went to sleep while I was typing. In order to get it to wake up, I had to push the power button. Other times, it takes hitting a key on the keyboard, or simply bumping into the table it's sitting on is all that's needed to wake it up. Something's waaaay not right here.
Has HP figured out what's up with this bug yet, and come up with an actual patch or solution? My l aptop came with Windows 10; it wasn't upgraded from anything lower.
