Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!

I have a brand new HP 15-f337 notebook that came with Windows 10 installed.  I've updated touchpad drivers and all the recent Windows updates.  Still the touchpad resets to default settings every time the power is turned on.  I don't want the touch click feature.  I searched this forum and tried all the suggested solutions and I have concluded that this is a design flaw that has not been resolved.  Seems like HP is stalling and hoping people will just give up.

Hi,

Try the following.

Hold down the Windows key and press R

Into the Run box type regedit and hit enter

In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Install

Inside, look for a key named DeleteUserSettingsOnUpgrade

If this is present, right click the key and select Modify

Set the Value data field to 0 ( Zero ) and then click Ok.

Close the Registry Editor.

Make the Synaptics setting changes you require in the usual way and save them, then check if they're now retained after a reboot.

Regards,

Thank you very much!  Very kind of you to provide an effective solution to this frustrating issue.  I wish Synaptics or HP would have provided a more obvious and less involved method of saving this setup information.   HP needs to read this post and provide this information to people that contact their support team.

This "solution" does NOT WORK on HP Envy notebook.

I"m really beginning to hate HP, Microsoft, and Windows 10
