Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended
HP Pavillion
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I had this laptop for about a year, I use it for Video editing, light gaming and basicly everything.

Now since about a month it would just shut down once the GPU reached 90°C, now there is no thermal throttleing happening at all and I've installed Coolsense, wich in the past prevented such high temps.  But Coolsense won't work and I don't what to do.

So I don't know if this is enough infromation but basicly the GPU goes all in untill 90°C and then shuts down or puts on a black screen that won't stop and this occurs since I hooked up an extra monitor to it.

So thanks for reading I hope you can help me.

Thanks or reading @Riddle_Decipher.

The model is HP Pavillion Notebook 15-ab277nz. 1TB SHDD, I-7 5500U, Nvidia GTX 940, 16GB DDR3.

Windows 10 64-Bit always updated.

I tried running one screen only - negative.

I tried reducing settings - negative still goes all in untill 90°C

Reducing the clock speeds of the GPU - y'know it's hard to trade with performance.

Now after watching the Video I have like 10cm of space next to the fan.

My room is like 25°C even in the winter (I'm just feeling cold otherwise).

Doesn't the compressed air make the fan spin so fast that it breaks? I guess not.

Also I hooked up an external AMP and a huge Keyboard and every port has a plug in it, except the Ethernet, maybe that makes it heat up even more and the dust accumulation of like 1.5 years just summits in overheating.

Well last week I had an Issue with Windows and reinstalled Windows, somewhere in that process CoolSense got deleted and I downloaded it from the HP site, installed the .NET Framework 2.5-4 cause thats required to run Coolsense and Installed CoolSense, so I guess that's why it might not work right.

BTW since updating to the Game Ready Driver v. 378.49 I can not take snipping tool screenshots across 2 screens. But thats for another forum.

So thanks for helping I'll try running Valley benchmark outside in the snow tomorrow.

Also how can you still be working at like 00.13 (Switzerland time) in the morning?

Anyways thanks for the quick response hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks for the help @Riddle_Decipher

I did a benchmark outside wich for some reason went really bad.

Anyways I cleaned the cooler and now the computer runs better than ever before.

So my issue is resolved, again thanks for the help.
