I am trying to connect a monitor to my laptop but when I choose the option to extend screens, it will not allow me to.  The monitors appear to be extended, however, I cannot move my mouse to the other screen.   I have already tried readjusting the resolutions but it didnt do anything.

 Suggestions on how to solve this problem?  Are the monitor and my laptop not compatible?

@RebSeg

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand the monitor won't extend to the laptop using a dual display setup,

I'll be glad to help you out, however, for an accurate solution I will need more details:

What is the product number of your product? Use this link to find it: http://hp.care/2moY4Sc

(Do not share any personal information such as serial number, email ID, phone number or address on a public forum for your safety).

Have you attempted any steps on your own before posting on the HP Forums?

Does the cloning works instead of the extended display, did you check?

Which operating system are you using?

Please reply with the details for further assistance.

Meanwhile, try the steps mentioned on this link: http://hp.care/2mpalGb (look under: Setting display properties to use additional displays)

Eager to help!

Feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accepted Solution.
