Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

I purchased two HP Z23n monitors and an HP 3005pr USB 3 port replicator for my HP Envy M2X72EA#ABU.

When I plug the monitors in to the laptop direct, or the port replicator, via USB3, the monitors are not detected.

If I plug one of them in via DisplayPort, it finds it without a problem.  But I only have one DisplayPort, and my understanding was these would work with USB3.

I have tried downloading and running the DisplayLink Cleaning Tool and then installing the latest DisplayLink drivers.  This did not make a difference.

How can I get these monitors running over USB3?

Hi @lucyscottuk

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that when you connect the monitor using the USB cable you are not getting any display.

I’d love to help!

I would like to inform you that the monitor will not work when connected using the USB cable. To get display on the monitor you need to use any one of the Input connectors

1 VGA
1 HDMI (with HDCP support)
1 DisplayPort 1.2 (with HDCP support)

The USB ports on the monitor extend the USB port for your computer. Using the USB cable supplied with the monitor you can use the other USB ports to connect your USB devices.

Hope this answers your question and you have a good day ahead.
