I've installed WIN8 on an HP Slate 2.  Everything works fine but on boot I always get this message once. "Failed to initialize viewspanconfiglib library"  It can be cleared.  It is an annoiance.  I've tried installing the driver in compatibiity mode to no avail. Viewspan error "Failed to initialize viewspanconfiglib library"

 

Suggestions?

I have the same issue when trying to install the software for the 2005pr (port replicator), it is disabling the ability to use the VGA port....sucks

I have an HP Probook 4540 and upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and am now getting the same message.  What do we do to correct it?

the error comes from Windows 8

I just tested with a Toshiba Sattelite Pro C850 is on WINDOWS 7 PRO

@madeinthg - How do you know that it's Windows 8? Just because this doesn't happen on one Win7 installation, doesn't mean much ...

 

I got that message when installing the software for the USB port replicator on 8.0. I believe that software is buggy. Earlier today it killed my 8.1 to which I had just upgraded a day ago, I had to reset the PC to zero. Quite a pain. HP? Anyone?

Same problem occur on HP Folio after upgrade toward Windows 10 from windows 7.

 

SOLVED - SP57732 - which is the driver for the HP 2005pr USB 2.0 Port replicator - has been relaunched to remove this useless service pack (for my configuration) - 

 

No more viewspan error

SP57732 permit to install drivers for USB extension, it seems to me that , when the USB extension does not exist, that was my case, the error appears.

This service pack can be uninstalled the same way I have installed it in , you launch the SP and reply to the question asked whether repair or remove.

I replied "remove" .
