I have a HP Elitebook 2540p with a broken screen. It's been sitting arround for a whileand now i have decided to use it and i want to insatll WIndows 10. I have an USB I am booting from but half of the screen is broken so i can't see what i am doing. How can i set an external screen as the primary screen?
I'll attach a image of the screen I am working with and how much visibility i have: https://i.imgur.com/D11teOK.jpg (image to large to upload in post)

Sorry, but you're out of luck on this.
The display jacks on laptops are not designed to treat external screens as the primary display.
The drivers to use those jacks don't get loaded until into the Windows loading, which is why you don't see boot messages on an external monitor connected to a laptop.
