Tap to click stops working after computer goes to sleep. It has been working fine until about a week ago. Scrolling and swiping still work fine I just manually have to left click as it will not respond to tapping. If I restart the computer it will work fine again till I close the laptop and reopen, at which time it will no longer work. What may have happened?

Hi,
As soon as you remove the Synaptics software, Windows will load a generic driver that will give you basic functionality ( pointer control, left and right click etc ) until you reinstall the other synaptics package.

Hi,
Can you post back with the full Model No. and Product No. of your Envy 15 series notebook - you can usually get this by holding down the fn key and pressing esc, otherwise see Here for a guide on locating this information.

Hi,
Try the following.
First, download the Synaptics driver on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp72001-72500/sp72142.exe
Turn off your wireless card ( should be f12 ).
Open windows control panel, open Programs and Features, right click the current Synaptics driver and select Uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook.
When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder and run the Synaptics installer - when this has completed, restart the notebook again.
If the touchpad now behaves correctly, turn your wireless card back on and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating the Synaptics driver.

Ok this may seem like a silly question but how am I going to navigate to install the new driver if the old has been removed? Will I still be able to move the cursor around with the pad and manually click? Afraid to remove and the not be able get it going again.
