I have a HP Pavilion g6t-1d00 Laptop (Product # - A1J17AV; Serial # 5CG217015R) with Windows 7. The OS crashed so I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows 7 (64-Bit) on my computer.
The HP support site doesnt have any drivers for the wired Ethernet Network adater. Device Manager has the Ethernet Controller, Network Controller, PCI Device, and SM Bus Controller listed under Other Devices and it says there are no drivers installed for these devices.
Also, all the other drivers on the HP support site are for Windows 8, nothing for windows 7. I tried installing the broadcom and intel wireless drivers (i dont know which one i have) but they didnt work either.
Could you please point me to where i can get the right drivers?
Thanks.
Neel

Hi:
Here are the drivers you need for the:
SM Bus Controller: Install this driver first and restart the PC.
This package contains the Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver for supported notebook models and operating systems. This utility enables the operating system to show the correct name for the installed Intel hardware in the Microsoft Windows Device Manager.
File name: sp55095.exe
Ethernet Controller:
This package provides the Realtek Local Area Network (LAN) Driver that enables the Realtek Network Interface Card (NIC) Chip in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.
File name: sp55040.exe
PCI Device:
This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones.
File name: sp55038.exe
Since your notebook is a CTO model, there can be one of several different model wireless cards that could have been installed in your PC.
Please post the hardware ID for the Network Controller (which is the wireless card in need of a driver).
To find the hardware ID, click on the Network Controller device in the device manager.
Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window.
Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description.
Drop down on that list, and select the 2nd item (hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.
Also, here is the link to the W7 driver page for your notebook. It has all of the drivers and software you need except for the smbus controller driver which I got from a model with similar hardware.
