Hi, @Fomzi :

You should be able to use all of the W7 x64 drivers and software from the 15z-af000 on your model, except the BIOS and firmware files.

http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-af000-Notebook-PC-series/7771410/model/8341291

In addition to the above drivers, you will need to install the AMD Chipset drivers and restart the PC.

You should install the chipset drivers first before proceeding to install the other drivers.

The chipset drivers will install the smbus and usb controllers.

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/chipset?os=Windows%207%20-%2064

You may also have to reinstall W7 from scratch since you have been trying to install a lot of incorrect drivers, which may have corrupted the registry.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

In new HP Win10 machines, the hardware is new and, as a result, there are no HP Win7 or Win8 drivers for that hardware.

If you force a downgrade to an older OS version, the problem you're up against is that Microsoft only supplies drivers with the most basic functionality, and what you really need for FULL functionality in laptops is the specialized drivers written for the specific hardware found in laptops. Without the HP drivers, one or more of the hardware components is not going to work properly. That can result in problems ranging from malfunctioning switchables graphics, to no WiFi, to no sound, and other such driver-related issues.

With any luck, a Provost might come along with driver suggestions from other PC that will work on yours.

But ... if that does not happen, to return your laptop to full operation, you would need to restore it back to its original OS.

Hi:

Unfortunately, I won't be able to help you with that one.

I've read that with the newest model Intel and AMD PC's, they can only run on W10, and some drivers were not developed for any other operating systems for these platforms.

If the chipset driver was good for that model PC, it would have installed just fine.

That is the only chipset driver available from AMD.

I also cross referenced that model with the business model equivalent (the Probook 455 G4), and I see that there are only W10 drivers for that model as well.

Since the 455 G4 is a business model notebook, HP always provides W7 drivers for business desktop and notebook PC's when possible.

Since none were listed, I can only assume that one cannot run W7 correctly on that platform.

This is the same problem with PC's that come with the Intel 7th generation core processors.

You can only run W10 on those platforms too.

There are several articles regarding this...such as this one.

http://www.techrepublic.com/article/microsoft-to-end-support-for-windows-7-and-8-on-new-pc-hardware/

I believe the notebook your brother has is one of the new platforms with the Bristol Ridge processor family, which does not support W7.
