Hi, I have been having connection issues with specific programs recently. I am still able to connect online through web browsers. Mozilla Firefox works fine but Google Chrome still has some problems loading specific pages or they don't load at all. The main programs I'm having difficulties with are mainly gaming platform programs such as Steam, Battle.net and League of Legends and I am unable to go online or connect to their servers.
I have never had any connection problems like these in the past 2 years I've owned my laptop, until recently. I think it was the 6th or 7th May that these problems started.
I have been updating my drivers and been constantly checking to download the latest ones. I'm not sure if it is my internet provider but I've also been constantly checking the network status to make sure the services are fine.
If anyone else is having this problem and if there are any suggestions that you think could help fix this, it would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jasper

Hi Jasper,
Thank you for the update. I think your computer have a rootkit infection. Most of them were inside Chrome's Extensions.
Heres what you need to do.
Open Chrome
Click the Menu bar on the upper right corner
Click More tools
Click Extensions
Kindly look for suspicious extensions that doesn't belong to the computer especially Ads. Once you located them, just click the trash can icon then close Chrome then reopen it again see if you can connect to your desired game. If not then follow these steps.
Manual removal of suspicious files (If you are comfortable with it. If not then run System Restore via safemode with command prompt)
Manual removal (I miss the old days of virus removal from MS :p)
Go to RUN type %temp% then clear all of the folders by pressing shift+Del
Go to Control Panel then look for any apps that you think a form of ads
Go to safemode with Networking. Run Malwarebytes from that state
Then run Tweaking tool to correct everything that was changed from your computer

If your not comfortable with the Troubleshooting steps then perform System Restore on the day it was working fine.

Hi,
First, Have you already contacted the moderators of the games you played? Im a gamer as well. If you are having issues connecting to the servers please send them an email regarding your issue. They might send you a patch or something. It happened to me before..
What is the exact error message when you are trying to connect? Can you list em?
Second, Have you check if the computer is virus free? When is the last time youve ran a scan?

Hi ichi730, thanks for the suggestions. I have not contacted the servers but I might try that when I get the time.
On Steam, I am simply unable to connect to the servers and gives me the options to retry the connection or just start in offline mode. (The below image is just taken off the web but is fairly similar to the message I get)
When I click the 'Go Online' button on Battle.net to connect, I get this error:
When clicking the link it takes me to this link:
https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/BLZBNTBGS80000011?utm_source=app-other&utm_medium=internal
There is another one of these errors where the number, instead of 3005, is 3006. For that error it takes me to this link:
https://eu.battle.net/support/en/article/BLZBNTBGS80000021?utm_source=app-other&utm_medium=internal
For the League of Legends client I am able to login, however I am unable to login to the chat service and it says 'Logging onto chat service...'. (Note that the left tab counter says 0 which is the friends list)
When I make a custom game on League to test if I am able to connect to a game, I get an error with this message:
I am currently running a scan of my computer, so I'll get back to you later with that once the scan is finished.

Hi,
Please let me know the results of the scan. I'll check the links youve included maybe later 😛 Im not allowed to open those here in the office.. Please include Malwarebytes to your scanner https://www.malwarebytes.org/
BTW.. Have you already check this forum from steam? https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forums/1/648817377813547032

Hi, so after the scan there were 24 threats but I think they seemed to be mainly optional installation files/toolbars from downloads. (I've included the images below anyway)
I've had a quick look at the forum, but most of the time when I looked up network issues, they are mainly related to a game and not the actual steam program/platform.

Hi ichi730, so only just recently today I opened my laptop and found that my gaming platforms were able to connect to their servers. Everything seems to be working as it used to.
I did try a few of the things that you mentioned a day or so before hand so I'm not sure if they did the trick.
Thanks for all the help and support, it was much appreciated.
