So the ethernet cable was working until I brought it home from the computer repair shop after they replaced my keyboard.  I brought it home, turned it on and tried to plug in my ethernet cable but all I could see is the wireless connection so I did some digging and tried to reset my computer but that didn't work.  Downloading the driver gives me an error "The Realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep is enabled Please Plug the Cable."  I've reset the bios, tried leaving it off for an hour but nothing works.  Any suggestions on how to fix it is greatly appreciated because I hate how slow wifi can be sometimes.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that didn't work.

Unfortunately, you cannot replace the component without replacing the entire motherboard.

What I recommend is that you purchase an external usb to rj-45 10/100/100 (gigabit) ethernet adapter and that should take care of the problem for you.

Here's a list to choose from.  I don't have any recommendations, so pick the one with the most/best reviews.

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try installing the AMD chipset drivers, restart the PC and then reinstall the Realtek ethernet adapter driver.

You want the 1st file listed on the webpage.

If that doesn't work, most likely the ethernet chip is dead.

thanks for the reply, tried that but didn't work.  Is it possible to replace my ethernet chip?
