What model wlan card is it, and if you are running W7, install that software and see if you can turn it on with the software.

How about the F12 key...does that enable the wireless like it does on most of the newer PC's?

Hi:

Does the wireless card show up in the device manager at all?

If not, and you are running on Windows 7, you may need to install this software and use it to turn on the wireless card...

This package provides the HP Connection Manager for the supported notebook models and operating systems.

RT5390

and no, the F12 key does not let me enable the wireless.

The mobility center showed no connectivity so I thought that after updating the drivers that the actual hardware was bad. So I ordered a new wireless network card and replace the old one.

Still, no fix.... Orange light still on. No connectivity.

What operating system?  What product number G6?  Product number is on the same sticker as the S/N.
