We recently bought this lap-top and have been having regular problems with the computer loosing the wi-fi network. We have several computers in our flat and may so rule out the router as offering this problem. The computer can be connected by cable /  Ethernet and does also connect to wi-fi, however soon to loose the connection. The computer usually re-establishes the wi-fi connection by re-start. This is however terribly inconvenient. Is there a change of settings to suggest? Model DESKTOP-BB5VM42, Processor is AMD A8-7410 APU

Hi @BB1960,

Thanks for taking an interest in the HP Support Forums! This is a great location to get resolutions and interact with experts from the community. I understand that you have Wi-Fi issues on your computer and it keeps disconnecting periodically. It will be a delight to assist you.

At the outset, you’ve established that other devices connect on the same network without hassles. Excellent job on that score. Kudos to you. It is always a privilege to work with technically savvy customers and I am really impressed with your technical expertise.

Please perform a few steps to try and resolve the issue.

Open windows Control Panel, open Power Options and next to your currently selected power plan, click Change plan setting.  In the following window, click Change advanced power settings.  In the next window, open up 'Wireless Adapter Settings' and then open up 'Power Saving Mode'.  Next to On battery: click the current setting and a drop-down box will appear - select 'Maximum Performance'.  Do the same for Plugged in.  Then click Apply and Ok to save these settings.

Restart the notebook and see if this has helped the issue.

Also open device manager. Go to Network adapters and expand it. Select the wireless network adapter for your device by right-clicking on it and clicking on properties. Then go to power management option and uncheck the box that says” Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Also, check the box that says “Allow this device to wake the computer”

Please  uninstall and reinstall the network drivers from device manager.

Please update the bios and the wifi drivers from this link http://hp.com/drivers You need to select the country and language. Then enter the product# of the unit and follow the on-screen instructions to update it. You could use HP support assistant to do it as well.
