Model: TM2-2150US, Windows 7 (recently re-installed)

Need to re-install internal wireless drivers/software.  How to determine which wireless card is actually installed in this PC?

Hi,

Normally should be in Device Manager :

Control panel > Device Manager > Network adapters  should show the info

If it was not there that means no wireless card and/or missing something.

Regards.

Thanks for the reply, however you touched on the very crux of the issue.

After re-installing Windows 7, I have a "Network Controller", a " PCI Simple Communications Controller"  & two "Unknown Devices" all in the "Other Devices" category, but no named wireless network adapters (in either "Other" or in "Network Adapters")

Hi,

Please try these steps:

  • Right click the unknown
  • Click Properties
  • Click Details tab
  • Select Hardware id pull down window  (under Property)

Normally you get few lines, they will tell you the manufacturer code

Other option is to download a small program called Everest, it will show you the manufacturer. You can download it from the following link:

Provost,

That is a ridiculous answer. The device will not be listed if there are no drivers for it on the machine. What he wants to know is how to work out what drivers to use as HP has several (Realtek, Atheros etc etc) without knowing what the hardware is.

Same reason I am here.

Another idiot so called ExpertSupport person. Ha. !
