Hello!
I have an issue with a new laptop. Model: 15-ay043ur, PN: x5b96ea. On the backside I found information: contains Broadcom radio model: BCM943142Y
So, I installed WIn7 (64bit) and all needed drivers, including WiFi adapter.
Installation completed successfully, but the list of available wireless network is empty. Of course, at list two networks, one of them n-standard, available for connection. Other devices can be connected to existing networks.
I trying many drivers from Internet, no result or different errors. For example sp66403 - an error update.cpp 1205. What is it?
The name of device in device manager is Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi M.2 Adapter
Device ID:
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4365&SUBSYS_804A103C&REV_01

Hello!
I was tired with Win7, so I installed Win10.
Without any drivers, notebook "saw" 4 wireless network but with very poor signal.
After installation sp76212 (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=ob_167600_1) I had an excellent signal.
In a one hour with internet access the notebook installed all the drivers by itself.
That's all 🙂
Thank you for collaboration!

Press the power button and immediately tap the Esc key. That will invoke the startup menu.
Press the F2 key to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
Choose component tests and then choose wireless.
Run the test and share your result here.

I just experienced the very same thing on my HP Envy Spectre 13-v021nr ultrabook. I will have to ask HP about that.

Hi:
In order to get the Broadcom wireless card driver to work, you will need to reinstall Windows 7 because once you have installed the wrong BCM wlan driver, you corrupt the Windows registry.
So any subesequent Broadcom wireless card driver you try afterward (including the right one), will result in that update.cpp 1205 error.
So, after you reinstall W7, here is the correct driver you need for the wlan card your notebook has...
The package contains the Broadcom wireless LAN drivers and utility that are required to enable the integrated Broadcom Wireless LAN Adapter in supported notebooks that are running a supported operating system.

In order to resolve the UEFI PC Hardware Diagnostics issue in my HP product loan, I had to do a clean install of Windows 10. I was pleased to see the GUI version appear. What you are seeing is the BIOS version (v. 1.16.00)
