Hi there @vht1951,

I understand that you are looking for information on whether a compatible module to add dual band capability for your notebook is available.

Looking at the: HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide from the support page for your model, on page 3 (13 of 94 in the pdf), it lists the wireless adapters, one of which is: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.2 Combo Adapter.

If you search your model on the HP Parts Store, the part is listed as: "806723-005  Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 combination WLAN adapter" and is currently listed as on back order.

You can check the site later for availability or the other site HP Partsurfer, to see if you there is an authorized vendor who may currently have that part.

I hope that helps, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

Sorry for the bad news, but you are operating under a misunderstanding.

Unlike desktop PCs, laptops do not use "cards"; instead, they use modules that attach to the laptop system board. These are not customer-replaceable parts.

Does anyone know if this laptop be converted to dual band wifi and what module can be used? I am capable of changing the component myself. I did E-mail HP but they haven't answered.

Thank you very much. I will save the link to the service manual and it will help me answer future questions.

Again, thanks.
