Suddenly, printing from this computer stopped with error.  Printing on the same network from another computer still works.  Using the scan and print doctor I got "not connected to the internet", yet email and website function work.

The router supports this common network.  How do I restore Printing to the Printer?

Hi! @Wanter, thanks for the response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

It looks to be a permission issue. And I don't have access to take remote of your PC. You have to contact HP phone support they should be able to take remote of your PC.

Click start type spooler in the search box and hit enter.

Or if you are unable to find the folder try the steps mentioned below.

Go My computer-Get into C drive-Then go to windows folder-select windows 32 folder--Find spool folder on the list and get into the spool folder.

Delete everything inside the printers folder--Go back and right click on printer folder and select properties.

Go to security tab and give full permission to everyone in the list. If you need to give permission to anyone in the list you just have to click on edit button and put a check mark in full control.

Then go to control panel select devices and printers--Right click and select your printer from the list.

Select printer properties--Go to security tab and give full permission to everyone in the list.

Click ok to exit, and restart your laptop.

Then try connecting the printer to the network.

Let me know if this helps!

Happy Weekend! 🙂

Hey there! @Wanter, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand that you are unable to print over the network and you are getting an error not connected to the internet on your PC.

Please try the steps mentioned below.

Restart the computer, printer, and router to resolve any error states present during the printer setup.
The following steps temporarily disconnect network and Internet connections, and require restarting your computer. Complete any tasks or downloads in progress before continuing.
Disconnect the power cord from the router.
Turn off the printer.
Close all running programs on your computer, including the HP software installation window, then shut down the computer.
Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
Turn on the printer.
Turn on the computer.
Try installing the HP driver and software again.

Refer this article to further troubleshoot printer not found during network setup.

Also, Please provide the model name of the printer.

I'll watch your reply!

Have a wonderful day ahead! 🙂

Thanks for your help.  I have previously done all of these steps except "including the HP software installation windows" and then of course "install HP driver and software again".  I do not know these specific steps.

We have had this computer 3 years now.  Also the printer is an hp officejet pro 8600 which is an eprinter; that is why internet access is required to print.

Could you provide the specific steps required to do the items I put in quotes?

@Wanter, thanks for the response.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned you need to know how to cancel including the HP software installation in windows.

Right click on the taskbar and select task manager from the list. Underprocess tab end all the printer services which are running on your PC.

Click ok and install the printer software from hp.com.

Hope this answers your query!

Cheers! 🙂

I appreciate you sticking with me.  When I looked at the processes, I did not see any that were printer services.  I clicked on the first one that I saw running and got a dialog box that said "access denied".  I clicked on another one that I recognized as my security software and it displayed the same dialog box.

Where do I go from here.

Thanks for trying out the steps.

Please try the steps mentioned below.

Print a Network Configuration Report or Wireless Test Report from your printer.
If your printer has a control panel with a display, print the report from the network settings or network setup menu.
If your printer does not have a display, print the report using the buttons on the printer control panel. For many HP printers, this is done by pressing and holding the cancel button or a combination of buttons on the control panel until a report prints. For more information on how to print a report for your printer model, see the User Guide or search the HP website for network configuration report and the model of your HP printer.
On the report printout, look at the network status for your network connection type (wired or wireless.)
If status is connected, continue with these steps.
If status is anything other than connected, such as Off or Disabled, then the printer is disconnected from your network. This is the reason your printer is offline. You must connect the printer to your network before you continue. For more help on how to set up a connection to your network, see the User Guide, search the HP website for your printer model and wireless or wired network install, or use the wireless setup wizard from the control panel of your printer if available.
On the report, find the IP Address, subnet mask, and Default Gateway for your active (connected) network connection type. If your report has separate numbers for IPv4 and IPv6, then use the numbers listed in the IPv4 section.
From a computer connected to your network, find the URL(s) for Embedded Web Server (EWS) on the report and enter the URL into your Internet browser. If the web page appears blank, use a different Internet browser.
Click the Network or Networking tab, and then open the section or page for your network type: wired or wireless.
Click Manual IP.
If you see a Suggest a Manual IP Address button, click Manual IP address, and the Manual IP addresses are automatically filled out for you.
If your page does not have a button to suggest a manual IP address, type the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway using the numbers shown in the report you printed.
Write these new numbers on a piece of paper. You might need to use them later when adding a second printer device.
Click Apply, and then wait until the changes are confirmed.

Refer this document to further troubleshoot printer offline issues.

I'll watch your reply!

Cheers! 🙂

Ok, from the print & scan doctor earlier I got a Wireless Network Test Result stating every is PASS.  However, I have been unable to get any more information from the user guide or the wireless printing page in hp.com.  Doing a search on the computer turns up nothing.  Doing a search on Help & Support got me nowhere.  The print & scan doctor also said we were not connected to the internet.

By the way, when we now attempt to print we get a message in See what's Printing in the printer that states error printing.

We are able to cancel the printing job.

Is there any way for you to take control of our computer and get to what is causing the printing hangup?

Is there any chance of restoring to an earlier time fixing this problem?

I just finished a "successful wireless test" using just the printer!  It is exactly the same as the Wireless Network Test Results I got a few days ago from the print and scan doctor.

Thank you for trying.  I finally got a phone number at HP.com.  I got a case number, but then I was sent to the printer dept and they said I needed the notebook dept and they said I needed the printer dept to create a printer for them.  So back to the printer dept and then my phone died.  I tried to contact HP again on another phone but the delay was too long before my next task for the day.  I will try again on Monday.

I want to thank you for your support.
