Hello. I recently installed a fresh copy of W7 Professional on my Envy Notebook. I've downloaded and installed all drivers listed for this model via the HP Support Assistant. I am still unable to activate my WiFi or Blutooth. Wifi worked fine with the old (factory) install of W7. I repartitioned the drive so I am unable to utilize my recovery disk. Device manager lists "Other Devices": "Network Controller", "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and "Unknown device" as devices with driver errors (yellow triangle exclamation).
When I open "Network and Sharing Center", "Change adapter settings" all I have is the ethernet LAN connection available. Nothing else is present.
I've tried all of the BIOS System Configuration tricks to enable/disable the fn keys. No change.
I've installed all the HP recommended drivers, unplugged my ethernet cable and rebooted. Still no change.
I believe the problem is that I cannot install the correct driver for my WiFi adapter.
I have seen other posts where the Hardware ID for the "Network Controller" was requested. Mine is: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0032&SUBSYS_1838103C&REV_01
The Hardware ID for the "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C3A&REV_04
The Hardware ID for the "Unknown Device" is:
ACPI\HPQ6007
I've searched for compatable drives for the listed devices but keep getting drivers for other operating systems.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been messing with this for a few days now and still no Wifi. Is there some sequence to which the drivers must be installed? Or maybe I've installed the wrong one which is preventing the correct driver from installing?
Thanks,
-Mark-

Hi:
You need this driver for the wireless card...
This package contains the driver installation package for the Qualcomm Atheros QCA9000 Series wireless LAN Controller in the supported notebook models running a supported operating system.
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp70501-71000/sp70859.exe
PCI Simple Communications Controller:
This package provides the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver for the supported notebook models and operating systems. The Intel Management Engine Interface enables communication between the host operating system and the Intel Management Engine firmware.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp69501-70000/sp69669.exe
6007:
This package provides the HP 3D Driveguard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The HP 3D Driveguard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71811.exe
The model wlan card your notebook has is not a combination wifi/bluetooth adapter.

You're very welcome, Mark.
I think you're right about WU finding the IMEI driver but I'm not sure why the driver from your notebook's support page didn't work because the setup information file shows support for the hardware ID you posted.

In case WU does not find the driver, let me know, and I will find another one you can try.

Thanks Paul. Right now WU just spins and spins. If I can't resolve that I'll post back here. But I need to get WU working properly anyway.
Thank you again so much for your prompt and accurate response.
