Pavilion 15Z-CW100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to either replace or uprgrade the wifi adapter for my HP Pavilion 15z-cw100 (Prod ID: 5MU50AV).  The stock adapter is only 2.4 GHz, and when I test my Wifi connection speed I'm getting between 30 - 40 Mbs. When I use the same speed test on my phone, I get 300-350 Mbps, which matches my AT&T internet service.  My laptop was ordered in 2019 and the adapter part number is Realtek RTL8723DE.

Is it possible to replace the adapter for a  5Ghz adapter?  If so, what is the part number for a replacement adapter?  I believe this would drastically increase the Wifi download/upload speeds for the laptop.

Best regards to all and thank you for any help you might be able to send my way!

I actually found a much easier solution.  I bought a plug-in Linksys AC600 wifi network adapter.  After installing the AC600, installing the driver, and then disabling the built in wifi adapter, my internet download/upload speed went from 30-40 Mbps to 350-400 Mbps.  Thanks for help, though, I really appreciate it.

@CMak1008 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that you would like to upgrade the wifi card.

A few things to remember are mentioned below:

The compatibility of your router with the wireless card,

If the wireless card is 1x1: supports 2.4 GHz and below - slow connection and download/upload speed,

If it's 2x2 or more: support 5 GHz and above - Fast connected and speed.

I have checked the manual (page number 3)

Your model support Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported)

Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac 2 × 2 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) 924813-855

The Wifi card is not user-replaceable part, I would suggets you contact our phone support and check for the support option.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
