my laptop cant detect my 5 g wifi at home but my phone can see it. i updated the driver but i still cant see it.

According to the parts list for your notebook, it comes with an Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 wireless network adapter.

That wireless card is a single band card that only works on the 2.4 GHz wireless band.

 

Specs on the card from Intel...

Even though i am mad at hp for this but it is what it is.

I agree.

 

I can't understand why HP doesn't include dual band cards with bluetooth as standard equipment nowadays.

 

And now maybe even dual band AC cards with bluetooth.  The additonal cost would probably be $20 to the consumer.

 

But like you wrote...it is what it is.
