I'm a design Engineer and tech support agent for an electronics company. I have "spudgers" to assist in openning electronic device bezels without marring them like butter knives tend to do.
Sure enough the mini connector was backed out a bit, so I pushed my cable back in with the credit card. It works for a while. But the problem kept recurring. I believe the the cable has too much tension (design flaw). Openning and closing the screen is causing the cable to back out and not make connection any more. After using my credit card 3 times I figured I'd let HP fix it.
I sent my laptop to HP under warranty. THEY WIPED MY HARD DRIVE BACK TO FACTORY STATE FOR A HARDWARE ISSUE!
They said :Webcam cable bad and OS corrupt.
BULL FECES!
No. The OS was not corrupt. The issue was strictly hardware. There was no reason to restore to factory state.
I recommend cloning your drive before you send it to HP. You need a system image if you have any mission critical files you cannot lose. Do not for one second think they will not restore your drive to a factory state.
Wiping your drive is their method on insuring they can fix your problem with minimal know how in their repair department. Trained monkeys.
My next laptop? Won't be HP!
