Every time  I shut down my laptop (O/S Windows 7) I get amessage "Do not switch off Updating 1 of 1 Updates"

I have tracked this Update to be the following:-

Hewlett-Packard  - Imaging - Null Print - HP Deskjet 3520 series

Download size: 6.7 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Recommended

Hewlett-Packard  Imaging software update released in November, 2009

Did you install the printer from the CD, or did you download the drivers from the web site?

Did you install the full software package, or did you install just the drivers?

I originally installed the printer on my laptop with the CD.

Thinking there might be a problem I uninstalled it and reinstalled it via the HP web site.  I installed the full package.

The printer is also installed with the CD on my desktop (Windows XP) where there are no problems!

That's strange. I've had this happen to me before, but with a update for a video card driver. I tried and tried to get the update to install, but Windows Update would just keep trying to install it. I finally ran a utility on my computer and it fixed whatever was causing it to not install. I don't know for sure if it will make a difference in this situation, but it's worth a shot. I'll link the utility below. Let me know what happens.

Advanced Systemcare

Hi Shane

Thank you for your reply.

I've installed Advanced system Care 6 as you advised, I went through all the options offerred. I tried to install the update with no success.

Then I uninstalled the HP software, reinstalled it from the CD and tried to install the update again with no success.

I uninstalled the software once more and reinstalled it from the web but I am still unable to install the update!!

Just to make sure it's not the problem, make sure your Java is up to date. I'll link the latest version below. Let me know what happens.

I'm thinking this might be a ghost update. That's where Windows says you need an update, but the device or software doesn't need the update, so it never installs. I've seen this happen with other versions of Windows, so it would surprise me if that was what's happening. I'm going to run this by some colleagues of mine to see what they think, but I'm betting that's what it is. I'll let you know what I come up with.
