My printer will not print black - it prints all the other colors. After doing some research, the problem may be the printer driver. One is not available for Big Sur 11.6 from the HP site. Does anyone know a fix?

Hi @BarbN1,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are unable nto print in black.

To assist  better-

1)Are you able to black and white copies using the printer?

2) What's the application you are trying to print from? Have you tried printing from a different application or devices?

While you respond to that, let's print a Print Quality Diagnostic page -

  1. Load plain white paper in the tray.

  2. Print the report.

    • Printers with a touchscreen or menus: On the printer, open the Settings or Setup menu, touch Tools or Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report or similar.

    • Printers without a touchscreen or menus: Go to 123.hp.com or your app store to install the HP Smart app. Click the picture of your printer on the home screen to open printer management options that include the report.

Post the Print Quality Diagnostic page here so we can help you further.

You may also refer to this document with steps to fix " Print Quality Issues" issue applicable for your printer -  Print Qualidty Issues

Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I am unable to copy black and white. Absolutely nothing appears on the paper.

From my MacBook, I’ve tried printing email, Safari web pages, Adobe files, and Word documents. Either there’s no black at all or it comes out very light grey. The black cartridge is brand new.

Below is the printer diagnostic page, a screenshot photo printed from my cellphone, and a PDF printer from the MacBook.

My printer model is no longer supported under firmware and drivers note is my operating system.

This does seem like a cartridge issue, I’d recommend you contact HP Phone Support in your region for cartridge replacement options.

Follow the instructions below to reach them:

1) Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp

2) Select your product type below.

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.

6)Fill the web form and proceed further.

If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

Have a great day!

It is not a cartridge issue.  I have two brand new ones and it happened with both of them.  How can it print perfectly fine from my iPhone, but not anywhere else?  You can clearly see it used black ink in the iPhone image.
