Bought HP printer 2800e series. Per instructions, went to 123.hp.com to install required HP Smart software. Followed all installation instructions. Instantaneously, internet slowed down drastically on all my devices. Uninstalled HP Smart, unplugged printer -- issue is still there!

Hi @BudhaG,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like installing the HP Smart software might have caused some network congestion or interference. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the issue:

Restart your Router: Sometimes a simple restart of your router can help clear any temporary network issues. Unplug your router from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for it to fully reboot.

Check Network Usage: Use your router's admin interface or a network monitoring tool to check which devices or applications are using the most bandwidth on your network. This might help identify if there's any particular device or process causing the slowdown.

Check for Interference: Wireless printers can sometimes interfere with Wi-Fi signals, especially if they're using the same frequency band as your router. Make sure your printer is not too close to your router, and consider moving it to a different location if possible.

Update Router Firmware: Make sure your router's firmware is up to date. Manufacturers often release updates to fix bugs and improve performance, so updating the firmware might help alleviate any issues.

Reset Network Settings: If restarting the router doesn't work, you can try resetting your router to its factory default settings. Keep in mind that this will erase any custom settings you've configured, so make sure to note them down before resetting.

Scan for Malware: Sometimes malware or viruses can cause network slowdowns. Run a thorough scan on all your devices using a reputable antivirus or antimalware software to make sure they're clean.

Contact ISP: If none of the above steps work, it's possible that the slowdown is caused by an issue with your internet service provider (ISP). Contact them to see if there are any known network issues in your area or if they can provide further assistance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
