Hi @Zare21,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're experiencing issues with your HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw Multifunction Printer after changing its connection type from wired to wireless to enable printing from your mobile phone. Transitioning from a wired to a wireless connection can involve several steps, and issues could arise from multiple areas such as network settings, printer configuration, or driver/software updates. Let's go through a checklist to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve your issue:

1. Verify Printer's Wireless Connectivity

  • Ensure the Printer is Connected to Your Wi-Fi: The first step is to make sure your printer is connected to the Wi-Fi network. This usually involves using the printer's control panel to find and connect to your network. You might need to re-enter your Wi-Fi password on the printer.

2. Install or Update Printer Drivers and Software

  • Update Printer Drivers on Your PC: Since you've changed the connection type, you might need to update or reinstall the printer drivers on your PC to ensure compatibility with the wireless connection. You can find the latest drivers on the HP website.
  • HP Smart App: For mobile printing, HP recommends using the HP Smart app, available for both Android and iOS. Make sure you have this app installed on your mobile phone and that it's updated to the latest version.

3. Configure Printer on Your Devices

  • On Your PC: If you previously had the printer installed as a wired device, you might need to add it again as a wireless printer. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners > Add a printer or scanner. Windows 10 should find the printer on the network.
  • On Your Mobile Phone: Open the HP Smart app and follow the instructions to add your printer. Ensure your phone is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

4. Check Network Configuration

  • IP Address Configuration: Ensure the printer's IP address is correctly configured. Sometimes, setting a static IP address for the printer ensures a stable connection.
  • Firewall/Antivirus Settings: Check your PC's and router's firewall or antivirus settings to ensure they're not blocking the printer.

5. Perform a Printer Network Test

  • Most HP printers can print a Wireless Network Test report or a Network Configuration page that provides important information about the printer's network settings. This can help diagnose network-related issues.

6. Restart Devices

  • Sometimes, simply restarting your printer, PC, and router can resolve connectivity issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
