HP Officejet Pro 8600
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Dear all,

I installed Office 365 on my brand new Acer Swift SF314-51 laptop running windows 10 Home edition on a 64-bit Operationg System. When I tested the printing I notice that I cannot select the additional paper tray 2 from the printing preference window.

If the 1st tray is out of paper, it switches to the second tray automatically and as I set up tray 2 as the default (using the touch screen of the printer) it also prints using paper from the second tray. But I want tray 1 to be the default and be able to select tray 2 only for specific printing. It works perfectly on my Windows 7 laptop where tray 2 appeared automatically as soon as I installed the hardware. It tried the same (re-install the second tray hardware) but it did not show up in the printer preferences under windows 10 (or is it Office 365 ?).

Why ? Is it a question of a driver that is not yet available for windows 10 ? Is it the 64-bit stuff ? Please let me know ...

Sincerely yours,

TOM

HI @TOMBVBA

Have you installed the FULL feature software?

If you have not, the following resource will help you :

http://123.hp.com/us/en/

Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.

After you have installed the FULL feature software, please "POWER CYCLE" (turn Off and then turn On your printer) and go through to the Printer properties as shown by @ShlomiL (or you can watch the video, though different printer, is showing the same procedure to ensure that the tray 2 is "installed").

The Tray 2 option should be there.  Let us know otherwise.

Thanks.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Please watch the relevant example below on how to set the tray 2 to "installed" on the WIndow settings.

Hope that helps!

Dear GreenTurtle,

Thank you very much for your swift reply. I checked the video and tried the same on my printer. Unfortunately the video is about an HP 8730 and mine is an 8600. The printer properties does not foresee a second tray option.

Thanks anyway 🙂

Hi @TOMBVBA,

The HP Officejet Pro 8600 driver do include an optional paper tray setting, be sure to check Tray 2 as Installed under Printer Properties > Device Settings as shown below:

1.JPG

If you do not see such an option open the Advanced tab, does the Driver drop down menu show exactly "HP Officejet Pro 8600" or any other value?

Dear Greenturtle,

After I installed the full software following the link you gave me the second tray became visible as shown by @ShlomiL. So I am saved. Thank you all for the swift support !
