Hi @wyd_trkr,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing connectivity issues between your Toshiba laptop and HP ENVY 7640 printer after reinstalling Norton 360, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that both your laptop and printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Make sure that the Wi-Fi network is functioning properly.

Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Norton 360 might have updated firewall or security settings that are causing the issue. Check Norton's settings to make sure that it's not blocking the communication between your laptop and the printer.
  • Temporarily disable the Norton firewall and see if you can print. If it works, you can then adjust the firewall settings to allow communication between the devices.

Network reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the router.
  •  Turn off the printer.
  • Turn off the mobile device/PC.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the router, then wait for the Internet activity light to display a normal connected status.
  • Turn on the printer.
  • Turn on the mobile device/PC.
  • Once done,
Could you please try these steps to connect the printer to the network (in case of dual-band routers, please use the 2.4 Ghz wireless connection for the printer):
  •  Remove HP Smart App from your mobile device (if already installed).
  • Press the Wireless button and the Cancel button from the printer control panel at the same time, and then hold them for three seconds.
  •  Download and install HP Smart App on your mobile device from the app store.
  •  Open HP Smart App and follow the onscreen instructions on the screen to connect the printer to a wireless network.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your laptop. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Click Here for driver download.

Check Printer Sharing Settings:

  • Confirm that the printer sharing settings on your laptop are configured correctly. The printer should be set up for sharing over the network.

Restart Devices:

  • Reboot both your laptop and the printer. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

Network Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in network troubleshooter on your laptop to diagnose and fix network-related problems.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software on your laptop and then reinstall it. This ensures that the latest drivers and settings are applied.

Check Norton 360 Settings:

  • Review the Norton 360 settings and ensure that it is not blocking any network communication. Look for settings related to network protection, firewall, and device security.

Printer IP Configuration:

  • Check the IP configuration of your printer. Ensure that it has a valid IP address on your network.

Remember to reactivate your Norton 360 firewall and security settings after performing troubleshooting steps to ensure your system remains protected.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
