I've had this 8100 for about 2 months. It was initially installed on my Windows 8 laptop but the plan is to use it wirelessly with various laptops and other mobile devices in the house. Sometimes it works, but usually it doesn't and I have to turn the BT router on and off which is very inconvenient. I have spent the last hour looking at various solutions both on this forum and the HP website which do not seem to cover my problem.

If it is not sorted soon, it will be going back to HP.

One thing I did see was to replace the ink. I am still using the originally supplied ones which are at least 3/4 full according to printer display. Could this be the problem?

Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I'm getting exactly the same problem and mine is only two weeks old!  Surely somebody must have an answer because it obviously isn't a one-off.

Hello. In order to troubleshoot this issue, please follow the troubleshooting below:

- Use the HP Print and Scan doctor to find and fix issues. The link to the doctor is here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?cc=us&lc=en&jumpid=ex_r4155/hho/ipg/ccdoc/p...
- Ensure printer and computer are on the same network.
- Ensure printer is installed, and wireless is turned on, in the printer.
- Ensure printer is on EWS. To do that, open a web page, then type in the printer's IP address in the address bar and hit Enter.
- Power cycle all wireless devices, including router, and try to Print (this implies turning off the printer, computer, printing devices, router and modem, then turning them back on in the opposite order).
- On the printer, restore network defaults, then run the wireless setup wizard, and check if IP address is on EWS afterward.
- Set a manual and static IP address and try to print (see document below).
- Disable firewall and anti-virus software and try to print.
- Create a new TCP/IP port and try to print. Refer to this link for information on that: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc775439%28v=ws.10%29.aspx
- Perform a clean boot of Windows, restart computer and try to print. Refer to this link on how to perform a clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
- Add a device, or wireless printer, and try to print from that newly added device. To do that, refer to this link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ca/windows/install-printer#install-printer=windows-7
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer software, and try to print.
- Unblock necessary router ports (to do that, refer to your router documentation).

Here is an HP document that is also a great resource for wireless troubleshooting:

Please respond when you have finished troubleshooting using these above steps and documents, and let me know your results. I'm only here to help!

The answer you gave is complete **bleep**.  My printer has been going off-line since Day 1.  This product should not ship unless it works continually.   It is worthless to me is I cannot rely on it.

FYI, I'm on a MacBook Air, the drivers are correctly installed, there is plenty of ink.  What gives?

I am very disappointed in HP right now.
