HP Officejet 8025

Ok so i just bought and installed this printer.  It's set up on wifi and all appears to be set up appropriately.  The problem comes when I am scanning from the unit and using the ADF feeder.

When I copy - paper pulls fine from ADF.  When I am on a network connected PC for scanning in the HP Smart app, I can select "Document Feeder" as the Source and it will use the ADF just fine.  When I am on my mobile phone app, I can select Document Feeder as the Scan source and it too works just fine.

But when I load papers in the ADF at the device, it dings and says "Document Loaded" but when I hit Scan --- Scan to Computer -- and select my home PC, it doesn't pull from the ADF but rather the scanner bed.  What's going on here?  ADF does indeed work but not when I am trying to scan from ADF at the unit itself.

@Hawkins3

Welcome to HP support community.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

I hope that helps.

Hello Hawkins3,

Have you had success with scanning from the automatic document feeder?  I'm considering buying this printer but being able to feed documents to scan is a requirement for me.

Thanks for your input!

Yes, I have had success.  I realized my problem was with the "Windows Fax and Scan" program on my computer.  The program default was set to "Flatbed" so when the 8025 was communicating with the computer for the SCAN feature, it was pulling the default of scanning from Flatbed and not thhe Auto Document Feeder.  Once I changed the default (you do this on the PC, not the 8025 unit), worked like a charm.  Since my computer and 8025 are both in my office (just on opposite sides of the room), I usually stick my paper/papers/receipts in the respective place, then go to my PC and go into the "Fax and Scan" program and set up scan through there.  That way I can easily change if the 8025 is pulling from ADF or Flatbed for scanning.  Let me know if this doesn't make since.

For your reference, I uploaded a picture of the Windows Fax and Scan program.  You go in and click "NEW SCAN", then toggle the SOURCE between "Feeder" (this is ADF) or "Flatbed"Capture.JPG

Thank you!  I had the same problem, and your answer solved my problem.  Much appreciated!
