HP OfficeJet 5255 All-in-One Printer

Suddenly my scan and copy functions (previously working) give a solid printed page of black and fine color lines.   I tried unplugging from cord/wall, waiting 3 minutes, etc.   No help.   Drivers are up to date.

Hello @reddogddd ,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!

For now, let us try these steps:

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer, see note!
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Is the scanner working now?

Kind Regards

from my original post " I tried unplugging from cord/wall, waiting 3 minutes, etc.   No help.   Drivers are up to date."  i also held the power button down 30 seconds before replugging.

When the scanner starts working, is the scanner lamp switched on?
Use the scanner glass and lift the scanner cover approx. 1 cm.

yes the lamp comes on and the scanner thing moves accross the bed

I think the scanner has a defect. A printer technician should check the scanner on site or the printer needs to be serviced.

Please contact HP support team in your region for help.

Thanks for understanding!

Thanks, I have introduced the printer to my concrete sidewalk at high velocity.   I no longer need help with this issue.
