Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have tried all the fixes I can find to get the HP 2700 Desk Jet to scan. I downloaded the Scan and Print Doctor but that didn't help. It recognizes the printer then says it can't find it. It used to print fine (never tried scanner until now) but now it won't do that, either. I have restarted the computer/router/printer all to no avail.

There is only one network and the info print out says it's on the right one. Tried using the ip address but no luck there, either.

Any help?

Thanks.

I reinstalled the printer through Windows 'Printers and Scanners' and now it prints again but it still won't scan. Says it's unavailable.

Hi @Harveyshot,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with your HP 2700 DeskJet scanner and printer. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the problem:

Check Connectivity:

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the same network as your computer. Since you mentioned checking the network, double-check that the IP address on the printer hasn't changed.
  • Try connecting the printer with a USB cable to see if it resolves the issue, indicating a possible network problem.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Go to the HP website, find the specific model of your printer, and download the latest drivers. Sometimes, updating to the latest drivers can resolve such issues.
  • Uninstall and then reinstall the printer drivers. Sometimes corruption in the driver files can cause issues like these.

Check HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • You mentioned using HP Print and Scan Doctor. Ensure you are using the latest version of this tool. Run it again after reinstalling the drivers to see if it identifies any new issues.

Reset Printer Settings:

  • Resetting your printer to its factory default settings can sometimes clear up networking and hardware issues. Look for an option to reset settings directly from the printer's control panel.

Disable Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily:

  • Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block printer and scanner functions. Try disabling these temporarily to see if it resolves the issue.

Check Windows Services:

  • Ensure that the necessary services for printing and scanning are running on your computer. Go to 'Services' from the Windows search, find 'Print Spooler', and make sure it's running. Restart the service if it's already running.

Manual IP Configuration:

  • If automatic IP configuration isn't working, manually configuring the IP settings through your printer’s control panel might help. Set a static IP for the printer in the same range as your network.

Check for Hardware Issues:

  • Since the printer and scanner are both not functioning, there could be a hardware issue.
  • Check for any error messages on the printer display that might indicate a hardware problem.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
