Sometimes when my employee is trying to manually copy a document through the feeder, she says that the printer freezes up and she has to restart the printer.

Hi @akaamyb99,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a technical issue with the printer's document feeder. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you could try.

  • Check for paper jams: Make sure there are no paper jams or obstructions in the document feeder. Even small pieces of paper can cause issues.
  • Clean the document feeder: Dust and debris can accumulate over time, affecting the performance of the feeder. Use a lint-free cloth and some compressed air to clean the feeder rollers and sensors.
  • Update printer firmware: Ensure that the printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for performance issues.
  • Adjust document settings: If the document being fed is of an unusual size or type, try adjusting the settings on the printer to match.
  • Reset printer settings: Sometimes resetting the printer to its default settings can resolve issues. Check the printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the issue with the printer freezing during document feeding.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

The employee came to me and said that it isn't the actual feeder freezing up but where the smart button are- like maybe it loses connection even though there is nothing wrong with the internet.
