HP Officejet Pro 8610
Linux

Hi

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 as my OS. I just purchased a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Officejet Pro 8610. I've installed all the software, registered the product, etc etc etc.  It's receiving instructions wirelessly through a network with my computer and it prints just fine from the computer.

It will not scan. I am told "No Computer Found", followed by directions for Windows and Mac users. I don't see clear parallels to the Ubuntu system.

There doesn't seem to be clear instructions on how to make it scan from the Ubuntu forums, so I ask here:  what do I need to do to have the brand-new machine scan my documents?

Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP forum.

You can try Webscan.

This relevant resource will show you how to do that:

Webscan is essentially using the printer's Embedded Web Services.

Hope that helps.

Hi

Thanks for the tip. That particular video didn't help very much, but the following one ('Scan from Chromebook') did the trick.

Cheers

Does the web scan only let you scan one document before needing to go to your computer and download it?

If so, scanning to a USB drive will be more useful to some.
