Any help getting the printer to display Scan > To a computer (on its screen)?

 

It's connected by USB, installed and running on the computer, it shows up in "HP Smart", and scans successfully from there.  It used to show Scan > To a computer, but when you tapped on it, it said "A computer is not connected".  I tapped "reset", not much happened, and now the "To a computer" option is no longer listed.

 

Thanks for any help, about 3 pretty frustrating hours into trying to get this working.
