HP OfficeJet 4650
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have installed this printer (HP OfficeJet 4650) with my new HP All In One desktop PC. When scanning images and documents, I am getting the entire print screen. How can I change the settings to scan only what is on the screen, without having to go back in and crop the excess blank space from around whatever has been scanned?

Also, the scanned image resolution is poor. I found the setting to change print quality to 'Best,' which I take as higher resolution, but does this also bump up the quality for scanning? I have traced information about changing the ppi from 200 to 300, but the instructions were for MAC/IOS - which I have been unable to follow on my system.

Thanks in advance for any info; greatly appreciated!

Scanning issues…

Please try this scan solution:

HP Scan Extended

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"

Yes you must crop for just what you want.

Let us know.

Thanks so much, this was a huge step forward! I'll need to play around with the settings, and auto-detect greatly reduced the excess area(s) around scanned items. I do a lot of work with photos, and the HP All In One extra large screen is namely why I bought this system. Greatly appreciated!
