Can't get g6 to talk with new TP01-3000i desktop.  HP suggests it is a software problem.  g6 on w/10 19045.3803 and desktop on w11.  Tried ethernet, wi-fi, network, cloud.  No communication between two systems, Discover Device is no help, g6 IS NOT BLUETOOTH capable; however will 'talk' to any other device in my house.  Need comm as 3000i is not equipped w/DVD reader/writer.  Any help appreciated.  TKS for y'all's time.

Hi @ativar,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble establishing communication between your HP laptop (g6) and your new TP01-3000i desktop. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

 Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure both devices are on the same network.
  • Check the network settings on both the laptop and the desktop to make sure they have appropriate IP addresses and are not blocking communication.

Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Check the firewall settings on both devices. Temporarily disable firewalls on both systems to see if they are causing the issue. If communication works after disabling the firewall, you may need to adjust firewall settings.
  • Some antivirus programs also have network protection features that could interfere. Check the settings of your antivirus software and try disabling it temporarily.

Network Discovery:

  • Make sure that network discovery is enabled on both the laptop and desktop. This allows devices to see each other on the network.
• On Windows 10, you can find this setting in "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Wi-Fi" > "Change advanced sharing options."
  • On Windows 11, you can find similar settings in "Settings" > "Network & internet" > "Advanced network settings."

File and Printer Sharing:

  • Enable file and printer sharing on both devices. This is often necessary for them to communicate and share resources.
• Check these settings in the same "Advanced sharing options" section mentioned in point 3.

Network Troubleshooter:

  • Run the built-in network troubleshooter on both devices. This tool can identify and attempt to fix network-related issues.
  • On both Windows 10 and Windows 11, you can find the troubleshooter in "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Internet Connections."

Network Drivers:

  • Ensure that network drivers on both devices are up to date. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause communication issues.
  • Visit the HP website for your laptop and desktop models to download and install the latest network drivers. Click here

Command Prompt:

  • Open Command Prompt on both devices and try pinging each other to test basic network connectivity. Use the command ping [IP Address] or ping [hostname] to see if there is a response.

Check for System Updates:

  • Make sure both devices have the latest Windows updates installed. Sometimes, compatibility issues can be resolved through system updates.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

It is very interesting;  I pinged, and got the proper reply.  I shared, and on the g6 I briefly got a representation of the desktop, but under MEDIA, no such showed up on desktop.  I tried all of your other suggestions and am still unable to "see" an icon under NETWORK to be able to work remotely either computer.  I can still drag and drop files either way with cloud, but that is more ponderous, and with the "lack of speed" from the g6, time consuming.  But, I guess it is better than nothing.  TKS for your time, appreciate that someone is willing to help!  I've been doing this since we had to key punch cards, to run tape, to insert into a reader to make the computer work, this is the first time I've not been able to figure out what the problem is.  Frustrating!
