HP Envy 23 23d040d
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello.

it's been 2 years since i use this pc and it works just well, but today, when i turned on the pc it can't boot. It just turned on,but the screen show nothing, and when i say nothing i mean really really just like it doesn't get turned on. i tried to push the DVD button and it is still working, the light on the power button also work, and everytime i tried to turned it on and off the sound of the pc turned on still can be heard. so its just like everything is ok but the computer isn't booting.ussually before this happened,it took only 3 seconds after i turned on the pc,to boot into the loading screen, but now it does nothing.

one day before,i upgraded to windows 10. and it is still working, the next day it is also still working, then i shut it down. the next time i tried it(ijust about 15 minutes i turned it off ,it won't boot. ) i don't know if this is related, but in the internet people said that things like this happened because of the hardware and not the software.

please help me,i really need this pc to get back to work

thank you,and sorry for my bad english

Same issue here.  I called and utilized my HP Total Care Pack I purchased.  I am currently waiting for the prepaid shipping box to ship my computer to them for repair.  I will post here what they let me know on the repair.  I was told 4-6 business days.

Well after Two motherboards and a hard drive, looks like I'm having my computer replaced.

4 to 6 business days ha ha ha, good luck with that

You weren't kidding on the "good luck with that".  It took them almost a month to fix it and return it to me.  They replaced the motherboard and reloaded the operating system as they determined the OS was corrupt as well.  It worked great for about 3 months.  The first time it went down with this problem was October 7, 2015.  I got it back October 28 and took a few days to get Windows updated and current and all my other software reloaded.  Ran like a charm until I went to turn it on after being gone for a weekend then the same thing.  The on button would light up as well as the hard disk light and you could hear the fan running. It would not even show the splash screen nor would the display even attempt to flicker or indicate any type of activity.  Called customer support and they had me go through various keys while attempting to boot up (pressing F2, F9, ESC each time while turning they system on to get it to just load into BIOS).  Nothing, other than when they had me pressing the button once every second while it would attempt to boot it would just shut off on its own then restart but would not boot.  The light would go off and then back on, but no activity on the display.  So now on January 11, 2016, only 3 months later (little more than 2 months from having it fully functional), here we go again.  Needless to say I am slightly frustrated.  Sure am glad I purchased the extended HP Care Pack Service.  I hope this time it will at least work for a few years rather than a few months!

I work in a repair shop and I just got a Core i3 Envy 23-d034 in here with the same issue. Powers up, but doesn't function after that. About a month ago we upgraded this computer to Windows 10 and installed a new hard drive since the original one was dying (it was a Seagate, of course).

Experimenting with the computer I opened up the case and moved the RAM around, it has a 4GB and a 2GB stick of RAM. Didn't help, then tried just the 4GB and then just the 2GB, didn't help.

Then I tried some old 1GB sticks I had lying around and it actually POSTed and Windows 10 started to boot, but then had an immediate blue screen on NDIS.SYS, something relating to networking. I tried multiple times with the same problem. I think the blue screen was a side effect of the main problem.

I tried 2 sticks of 1GB and it booted and I was able to get to the BIOS. But after another reboot it wouldn't work anymore. Then I tried just a 1GB stick and numerous other 1GB sticks of RAM and it just wouldn't work anymore. I think it was on a downward spiral and I got to it as it was about 90% dead. Now it is 100% dead, just powers up but never anything else. I measured the power supply on the motherboard and it has 19.61 volts going to it. Measures 19.68 volts while it's not powered on.

I tried pulling any unnecessary items, like DVD drive, wifi card, but nothing helped.

I think these Envy 23s actually die a slow death. But all anyone sees is the fast death with whatever current hardware is installed. I found it odd by reducing the RAM I was still able to see partial life left in the unit. Until finally that trick didn't work anymore either. This isn't the first all-in-one Envy I've seen in the shop die like this. I've had to replace a motherboard on another Envy a while back.

Personally I'd never buy an all-in-one. And the HP Envy product line doesn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling either.

EDIT:  For my particular model I found a motherboard exchange service on eBay for $80 (EDIT: Now it looks like it has increased to $209-OUCH!). You ship them your bad one and then you get a repaired? one. Item #222129310172.
