Hello there,
After you use the steps in the document shared in the previous reply, make sure to select the paper size in the app you are opening your photos with. From my experience, Windows 10 defaults to the Photos app when you open a photo saved on the computer. It has a set of menus to change various print settings. You should see a Paper Size menu there.
If you are opening your photos with another app, click File > Print then look for a Printing Preferences or Properties link to open the HP driver settings. That includes a Paper Size option in the Advanced area or on the Features tab, if available.
I work on behalf of HP, but my opinions are my own.

HI swtdenise,
Extend the paper input tray all the way out. Slide your 4x6 photo paper, glossy side down, all the way to the back and adjust the width guides until it touches the edge of the paper. Make sure you select the proper paper size from the program you are printing from.
