Hello,
Recently I posted a message regarding a dead HP Pavilion dv6-3210us.
Received a replacement motherboard & after installing, I powered it up. The fan raced & almost through the bootup, the computer shut down. When I turned it back on to try again, it came up with an "overheating" message. I waited & tried again & once again, it returned the same results...
Received another replacement motherboard today & upon further examination (the original replacement is exactly the same) there is a chip with 3 mounting screw holes for another heat sink. It appears to be a video card with the 4 memory chips along side of it. The board is exactly the same as the original except for these chips. Does anyone know about this chip & if there is a different type of heat sink/fan assembly for it?
Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide.

Hello @Dyke67ny,
Welcome back to the HP Forums!
I have read your post and see that you are wondering if there is a different heat sink for your HP Pavilion dv6-3210us Entertainment.
I took a look at the maintenance and service guide for your notebook, there are two different heat sinks for that model of notebook. The type of heat sink depends on the graphics used in the notebook (either discrete or UMA).

Hello Flashram,
Thank you for replying to me question!
I found the correct heatsink/fan assembly & have installed it. I have run into 2 new situations with this computer since replacing the motherboard.
* Windows 10 keeps returning an error for an AMD Radeon HD 5000 series driver (as it looks like there are 2 different video chips on this new board).
* Upon turning on the computer, I receive an error message that there is no motherboard ID info. I hit enter & the computer will boot up normally...
Again, thank you for your assistance, much appreciated!
🙂

Hello @Dyke67ny,
Thank you for the response!
I'm glad you found the correct heat sink and fan assembly.
For the graphics driver error, follow the troubleshooting in this document:

That is pretty normal after a system board replacement:

Take a look at those documents, they will help you resolve that issue.
Let me know how it goes!
